Writer: Gerardo Mungia

Karmen Etxalarkoa Pastorala´s writer is called Gerardo Mungia, “Pintxe” (as his nickname). He works as a builder but one of his passions is writing literature. He has recently published a book. He is from Pamplona and he likes tragedies. Thus, he decided to write the pastoral version of the novel Carmen from Merimée.

Music directors/ music creators:

• Iñigo Etxarte, from Etxalar, Navarra. He created the group of music that played in Karmen Etxalarkoa Pastorala. He played the “txistu” (a kind of typical Basque flute) and the common flute.
• Javier Pérez de Azpeitia, from Bera, Navarra. He created the main songs played in Karmen Etxalarkoa Pastorala. He also played the piano.
• Errege Belda. She created the main songs played in Karmen Etxalarkoa Pastorala. She also played the accordion.

We need also to mention:

• Patrick: he played the drums
• Juan Mari Beltrán: he played the clarinet
• Miren Belda: She played the bass drum and the accordion
• Bittor Karrera: he played a wind instrument called “dultzaina”
• Markel Etxarte: He played the trumpet.
• Peio Irigoien: He played the trumpet
• Ander Barrenetxea: he played the percussion
• Anne Pérez de Azpeitia: she played the bassoon
• Aitor Huici: he played the violin
• Music from artists: Mikel Markez/ Xabier Amuriza/ Anje Duhalde

Dances:

• Amadeo Telletxea, from Igantzi, Navarra. He created some of the new dances.
• Anabel Arburua, from Etxalar, Navarra. She coordinated rehearsals.
• Maite Olaetxea, from Etxalar, Navarra. She coordinated rehearsals.
• Ilhora Capot, Ibai Capot, Arnaud Izal, Bea Calvet and Maddi Erreçaret. They participated as the teachers of some of the dances.

Performers (called “arizaleak”):

In this section, we show the names of the people that participated in the pastoral as well as the artistic role that they performed. In most of the cases, people performed more than one role.

Special thanks to: Adults and young’s, women and men, artists, the dancers “dantzaris”, the musicians, the dressmakers and a huge group of people that worked in different sections such as media, financial support, stick making for walk, stage, people organizing lunch meetings. It is quite difficult to mention all the people participating in the pastoral one by one. Besides the participants from Etxalar, we must mention people coming from different villages, such as, Baztan, Igantzi, Hondarribia, Xuberoa, Iruña and so on. We would like to gratefully thank to all the participants and especially to the writer, Gerardo Mungia and the director of the pastoral, Pantxika Urruty.
